As a compilation of everything presented at a live event – from video footage of speaker presentations to question-and-answer sessions – the Meeting Highlights CD-ROM is an effective, efficient method to train investigators, raters, study coordinators and other study personnel who are unable to attend a live training event.
Traditional didactic presentations are supplemented with streaming audio and video narrations, as well as with presentation slides useful for both review and printing. In addition, the CD provides supporting documentation as PDF files, transcripts of the event and a search function to locate presentations by topic.
The CD can also be a valuable tool to gauge both individual and group understanding. For instance, you can request that it be programmed to collect demographic information and assessment results. Let’s say that you want to verify whether or not a potential subject can demonstrate understanding of the material as a prerequisite to participating in the study. With this CD, you can build in a mechanism for capturing that information.
Similarly, you can find out whether a high percentage of individuals in the group share a certain misunderstanding about a disease, enabling you to offer additional training.
Following a validated process, UBC can also expand the use of these CD-ROMs in one of two ways:
- By adding audio and video subtitles and
- By translating study-specific documents into various languages in a two-part process:
- A certified translator converts the content into the target language
- Then a clinical professional fluent in that language reviews it for accuracy
These services are especially valued in studies where there are numerous global sites, since every CD-ROM contains all necessary translations, making distribution simple and efficient.
