Epidemiology & database services

UBC’s epidemiology experts help clients better understand disease epidemiology and conduct thorough risk assessment for patient populations. UBC’s epidemiologists can quantify the incidence and prevalence of diseases and comorbidities, determine the incidence of adverse events, and identify and quantify the impact of risk factors that may be associated with different diseases or treatments. Knowing these relationships between patient, drug, clinical and disease factors can significantly aid clients in addressing potential drug-event causal relationships or in building stronger evidence-based value messages.

Clients call on UBC for:

With these tools, we can help clients:

  • Characterize the natural history of disease
  • Understand current treatment patterns and identify issues of potential patient channeling (selection bias)
  • Benchmark the rates of adverse events and identify and quantify the effects of various factors affecting these rates (e.g., study design, patient risk factors, pharmaceutical use, etc.)
  • Rapidly respond to inquiries of risk assessment and/or drug safety issues
  • Examine the use of pharmaceuticals and the resulting clinical and economic outcomes in real-life patient populations

Supporting our work are two specialty databases: EvidenceHub™ (powered by MetaHub™) and an Oncology EMR.
