Louisa E. Hefty
Louisa E. Hefty, M.Sc. is a Managing Director with United BioSource Corporation Center for Pricing & Reimbursement in Washington, DC. Ms. Hefty is responsible for project management and strategic consulting and research for pharmaceutical and medical device clients. Her particular expertise is in health care policy and third-party coverage and reimbursement, with an emphasis on public payers, particularly Medicaid. She has conducted research in a broad range of therapeutic areas including Alzheimer's, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, mental health, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, and vaccines. Ms. Hefty has prepared numerous strategic reimbursement plans and conducted market research with Managed Care Organization (MCO) medical and pharmacy directors, as well as pharmacy administrators and physician services directors at state Medicaid programs, pharmacy directors at Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), and providers in various specialties. Ms. Hefty brings over 20 years of experience in health care policy and reimbursement consulting to her role as Managing Director of the UBC Center for Pricing & Reimbursement. She has presented at health care policy meetings including Barnett's Conference on Pharmaceutical Pricing. Ms. Hefty's experience in the health care arena includes four years at PharmAnalysis Group, Inc. and four years with PAREXEL International, where she was Director, Payment Strategies, and ten years with State and Federal Associates, Inc. At PAREXEL, she provided strategic consulting on a wide range of health care issues and therapeutic areas for pharmaceutical and medical device clients. She also monitored and analyzed policy trends impacting access to new products in the marketplace, and communicated with public and private decision makers, advocating for favorable coverage policies. She was also responsible for establishing and maintaining overall client relations. As Research Director at State and Federal Associates, she conducted research with numerous decision-makers at leading public and private payers, provider organizations, and pharmacy benefit management companies, as well as key thought leaders in the physician community. Ms. Hefty has a M.Sc. degree in Planning and Administration/Health Policy, University of Texas and holds a B.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Texas. |
