Professor Grunze is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the School of Neurology, Neurobiology and Psychiatry, University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Prof. Grunze has also served as a faculty member at numerous universities in Germany and Europe. He is an editorial reviewer of many journals and served as the Vice President for the International Society of Bipolar disorders (ISBD.) He has extensive research experience in many scientific areas and has received numerous awards for his work in schizophrenia and bipolar research. He has published numerous scientific publications and remains a leader in the understanding of bipolar disorders.
Prof. Grunze received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Aachen, Germany, Oxford and London. He also completed his residency at Universitaetsklinik Freiburg, Germany and fellowships at Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Germany and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.
