Denis Getsios specializes in the development of health economic models, with expertise in numerous therapeutic areas, including Alzheimer’s disease, migraine, breast cancer, infectious diseases, diabetes, COPD, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Experienced in discrete event simulation, Markov modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, survival analysis and other innovative techniques for assessing the health and economic impact of medical technologies, he has translated models into computer interfaces for marketing and educational purposes. In addition, he has developed models that can be adapted for use in different countries.

Prior to joining UBC, he was a Senior Health Economist with Caro Research, having worked for Caro Research since 1996. Mr. Getsios also served both the private and public sectors as an analyst.

Published in such peer-reviewed journals as Neurology, Value in Health, PharmacoEconomics and Clinical Therapeutics, he has also presented at national and international conferences. Mr. Getsios has co-authored a number of review papers in the area of pharmacoeconomics, served as a reviewer for professional journals and conducted workshops on discrete event simulation.

Mr. Getsios received a degree in Economics from Concordia University in Montreal, where he was awarded the Sun Life Prize in Economics.
