Lori Frank
Lori Frank, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Scientist and Executive Director of the Center for Health Outcomes Research at United BioSource Corporation (UBC). She also holds an adjunct appointment to the Georgetown University Department of Psychiatry. Her current research activities include measurement of physical and mental health outcomes including quality of life, and development of patient-based assessment strategies for a range of diseases. Dr. Frank received her Doctorate in human development with a specialization in gerontology from the Pennsylvania State University, and received her Master's degree in psychology from the Johns Hopkins University. She completed her postdoctoral training in mental health services research at the Veteran's Administration Health Services Research and Development program and the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. She has worked in psychiatric hospital administration, which included program evaluation and health policy analysis, and as a Research Psychologist with the National Institute on Aging. Her other research experience includes psychological and legal aspects of medical treatment decision making by older adult patients, preferences for health-care services for older adult patients and their caregivers, outcomes assessment for individuals with a range of mental illnesses, health-care service utilization by older adults with dementia, and management of disruptive behavior among cognitively impaired nursing home residents. Dr. Frank has a background in developmental psychobiology, basic neuroscience, and psychophysiology. Her work has appeared in multiple journals, including Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, PharmacoEconomics, Journal of Mental Health and Aging, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, and Gerontologist. |
