Karin Coyne, PhD, MPH, is responsible for instrument development and validation, as well as design and management of research studies focused on patient-reported outcomes. Her areas of expertise include cardiovascular, urology, gastrointestinal, diabetes and women’s health.

Prior to joining UBC, Dr. Coyne was a Senior Research Scientist at the George Washington University Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Research Institute, where she was responsible for direct oversight of all cardiovascular clinical trials. She guided the development and analysis of all patient-reported outcomes research for the Institute, from protocol development, data management, and site coordination/ communication to data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript preparation.

Her publications have appeared in Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of Urology, Quality of Life Research, and Value in Health, among others.

Dr. Coyne earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Xavier University, her Master’s degree in Public Health from San Diego State University, and her Doctorate in Nursing with a specialization in clinical research from the Johns Hopkins University.
